Summer Programs for FBRA Students
At French Broad River Academy, we value the summer as a chance to reconnect with family and community, as well as “sharpen the saw” through personal study and reflection. However, we know that summer is also a great opportunity to build upon the experiences we have during our school year and to supplement the busy summers that many of our students enjoy at local camps. For our current students and alumni, we offer a variety of outdoor day camps and overnight expeditions, in addition to our mandatory Summer Reading and Summer Math expectations.
Summer kayak camps are run by our experience whitewater instructors, each of whom brings a lifetime of experience to his work with our students as they develop the skills necessary to safely navigate whitewater in kayaks. Introductory through advanced skill levels are welcome.
We also offer summer mountain biking, backpacking, and rock climbing adventures for current students and alumni.
Summer reading and math assignments are created by the specific teachers within each grade level, so that students have a chance to stay engaged academically, even as they have a chance to recover, decompress, and gear up for the next year of our academic program.
