Summer Programs for FBRA Students
At French Broad River Academy, we value the summer as a chance to reconnect with family and community, as well as “sharpen the saw” through personal study and reflection. However, we know that summer is also a great opportunity to build upon the experiences we have during our school year and to supplement the busy summers that many of our students enjoy at local camps. For our current students and alumni, we offer whitewater kayaking programs along with personalized music lessons, in addition to our mandatory Summer Reading and Summer Math expectations.
Summer Kayak Camps are run by our experience whitewater instructors, each of whom brings a lifetime of experience to his work with our students as they develop the skills necessary to safely navigate whitewater in kayaks. Introductory through advanced skill levels are welcome.
Music Lessons are offered by Academic Director and Music Department Chair Jason Martin, as well as an all-star team of other musicians from the vibrant Asheville music scene. The familiar FBRA environment and relationships create a perfect context for individualized instruction and new levels of rock-and-roll prowess!
Summer Reading and Summer Math assignments are created by the specific teachers within each grade level, and coordinated via the school’s webpage, so that students have a chance to stay engaged academically, even as they have a chance to recover, decompress, and gear up for the next year of our rigorous Academic program.
