Conway, Christian
Math Teacher, Head of Wilderness Medicine
FBRA Boys

Christian Conway is a native of the desert southwest but has lived in Western North Carolina since 2003. Christian grew up skiing, camping, climbing and mountain biking in Northern Arizona and Western Colorado. He comes to FBRA with a strong outdoor education background, having taught at SOLO Southeast Wilderness Medicine School for the three years, where he acted as Assistant Director and Lead Instructor.

Christian graduated magna cum laude in 2009 from Western Carolina University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology that concentrated on human biological sciences. He currently holds a Wilderness EMT-Basic certification through SOLO Southeast and has extensive clinical and backcountry medical experience.

Christian got his start in outdoor education in 1997 guiding climbing and mountain biking trips for the Orme School in Mayer, Arizona. In 2005-2006, he worked as a wilderness instructor for the Second Nature Blue Ridge Therapeutic Wilderness Program, facilitating at-risk adolescents in a healthy outdoor environment.

Starting in 2011, Christian began teaching at SOLO Southeast, where, in 2013, he met Will Yeiser and David Byers in a Wilderness First Aid class that he was teaching. The rest, as they say, is history. In his spare time, Christian enjoys mountain biking, skiing and whitewater rafting.
