More About Melissa: Melissa Hyman is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter living in Asheville since 2007 and performing, recording and teaching music professionally in many contexts since 2009. In addition to teaching at FBRA, Melissa heads the Children’s Program at the Swannanoa Gathering, does music and art lessons with kids and families at Mission Children’s Hospital through local nonprofit Arts For Life, and teaches little ones under 5 to sing and speak in Spanish as a Bilingual Birdies instructor. In total, Melissa has 14 years’ experience working with children of all ages, developmental levels and physical abilities as a music and art teacher for patients at Mission Children’s Hospital; 16 years of experience as a professional performing, touring and recording artist; and 10 years of experience as a record producer, composer, arranger and orchestrator.
