Liddell has been living and working in Western North Carolina since 2000. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry and Geology from The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee and earned her teaching certification and Master’s degree in Teaching at Western Carolina University. Ms. Shannon worked for 5 years as a GEAR UP Resource Teacher and College Readiness Coach at Cherokee Middle School.
Ms. Shannon spent a year on a 6,700 mile human-powered adventure. She paddled the length of the French Broad River system from WNC 1,800 miles to the Gulf of Mexico, rode her bicycle 2,300 miles from the river bank in Louisiana to the Pacific Ocean, and backpacked the 2,650 mile Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada.
Ms. Shannon is passionate about empowering students to expand their comfort zones, and work together with teammates through movement activities.
