Britt is so excited to join the FBRA team for her first year here teaching 8th Grade Biology. She graduated college from Western Carolina University with a degree in Geology and Hydrogeology. During and after college, she dove into a career in Outdoor Education and Professional Kayak Instruction with the Endless River Adventures. She taught whitewater kayaking for a variety of age groups ranging from middle school aged children all the way to grown adults. While instructing, she was also working to help build a foundation for a new program called Need More Outdoors. This program is a nonprofit organization on a mission to empower young, underprivileged youth through outdoor adventures and nature-based education in western North Carolina.
More recently, she spent about 4 months as a kayak guide in Ecuador. She worked with people from all over the world, providing them with opportunities to experience the rich Ecuadorian beauty and culture on and off the river. She also spent some of her free time exploring some of the more remote rivers in the Amazon, which was some of the most incredible whitewater kayaking she has experienced in her life! On the weekends, you will usually find her enjoying good company on the river or rock climbing with old friends. Britt is excited for the opportunities she will have at FBRA to combine her outdoor teaching experience with her passion for STEM so that she might provide FBRA students with a truly unique educational experience.
